CLIENT SPOTLIGHT: KEPHART

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT: KEPHART

OUR CLIENTS ARE DIFFERENT

There is no surprise that we believe bringing the Enneagram and the tools of Brené Brown™ into an organization results in major positive change. We believe everyone can benefit from what we teach, and we believe this work is important. And yet, we know the decision to work with us requires vulnerability and courage from each of our clients.

For an organization to bring us into their orbit means they are truly dedicated to the growth of their employees. It means they are asking for help. It means they are willing to do “the work” – a term that has gained popularity in the self-help and development sphere. This term remains accurate because what we do does not promise to be easy, however it does promise to be rewarding. And we’re pretty good at having fun along the way.

Therefore, when we start working with a client, we already know they are special because they want all of this for their company, employees, and more. They realize something not all organizations realize: investing in the development of their people will make them a stronger, more successful business.

THE CLIENT SPOTLIGHT SERIES: KEPHART

For this reason, we’re big fans of the people we work with! We believe it’s important to showcase our clients and the great work they do. These clients are the inspiration behind our new segment called the Client Spotlight Series. This month we spoke with Jamie Goldman, Principal at KEPHART, to bring you the first in this series.

Tell us a little bit about KEPHART.

KEPHART is a residential architecture and land planning firm that has been in business for almost 50 years. Our mission that “EVERYONE deserves a well-designed place to live, work and play” is what drives us to create thoughtful homes and communities that change people’s lives. Since our humble beginning in 1974 we have designed more than 400,000 homes in 17 states and counting.

How long have you been working with Tallon Consulting Group?

We have worked with Tallon Consulting Group (TCG) for over 25 years.

You have been named one of Denver’s Best Places to Work for several years in a row! Huge congrats! Would you say that your work with TCG has been a part of your success? And if so, how?

TCG has definitely been a part of our success. The numerous leadership and communication tools that they have shared with us over the years – the Enneagram, Communication Tool Kit, Situational Leadership, etc. – have resulted in us having a healthy culture that is rooted in inclusion, control and affection where everyone is more aware of their actions and how they impact others.

How has working with the Enneagram and Brene Brown been beneficial for KEPHART over the years?

The Enneagram is a powerful tool that has allowed each employee at KEPHART to understand themselves and their own motivations on a deeper level, and in turn to understand their co-workers better. This combined with Brené Brown’s™ work around vulnerability has resulted in us being more empathetic, honest, courageous and compassionate with each other, which is always a good thing.

KEPHART has grown so much over the years. How do you fold new staff into your depth of knowledge about the Enneagram and Brené Brown™, which is well-established in your office?

TCG plays an integral role in sharing this knowledge with our employees. As soon as someone starts working at KEPHART they take an Enneagram assessment, then they meet with TCG to have a conversation around their personality, and which Enneagram type they resonate with the most. From there, TCG leads monthly lunch presentations about the Enneagram so our employees can continue to learn more about themselves and how to effectively use this tool. In addition, TCG hosts a monthly “Communication Corner” session where a different leadership or communication tool is shared with the entirety of our team.

Would you have any advice for companies looking to support the development of their people?

Hire TCG or at least reach out to them to have a conversation regarding how they might be able to support you and your team. It is never too late to learn, and the tools that TCG has shared with the KEPHART team have made us all more empowered and thoughtful employees, leaders, and most importantly people!

What’s next for KEPHART?

We will be celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2024. KEPHART has grown and evolved over the course of those last 50 years, and we can’t wait to see what the next 50 years has in store for all of us.

A RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

It’s no wonder that KEPHART continues to be a pillar in the architectural community for almost 50 years. In that time, they have navigated their fair share of change, and still, they continue to grow. According to the Center for Creative Leadership, “Leadership development increases people’s ability to lead in a disruptive world”. In KEPHART’s case, this absolutely rings true.

We are proud to have witnessed KEPHART’s outstanding growth firsthand over the last 25 years. Of course, KEPHART’s recipe for success is multi-faceted and we only touched on a portion of that here. To learn more, take a look at their article “Workplace Practices that Drive Success at KEPHART”. We wish KEPHART another 50 years of continued success!
